How Presence Transformed My Life — and How to Access It Through Sound Healing
Welcome to another Afterbath Session with Mat Creedon 🌿
In this article, we explore the power of presence — how it changes the mind, the body, and the way we move through the world.
This blog also includes a 1 hour Sound Bath to help you shift into a grounded, calm state.
To watch the complete one-hour Sound Bath session right away, please find the video at the bottom of this page.

My Backstory: From Chaos to Clarity
Growing up with a brother suffering from schizophrenia shaped my early life.
Music became my refuge — a structured world I could rely on when everything else felt unstable.
I practised for hours every day, driven by passion but also by the need for emotional order.
In my late teens, I discovered Transcendental Meditation and committed to practising twice daily.
This meditation became the foundation that kept me grounded throughout my life.
A Midlife Awakening
By my mid-40s, I felt unfulfilled, exhausted, and disconnected from my musical dreams.
Then I encountered The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
Reading it triggered what many would call a spiritual awakening.
Suddenly I became vividly present.
Time slowed.
A subtle internal energy began to rise.
I entered a state of deep blissful awareness that has remained with me ever since.
This awakening naturally led me into sound healing, community work, and helping others regulate their nervous systems through vibration.
Why the Mind Struggles With Presence
The mind prefers past and future thinking because that’s where the “problems” live — and the mind is designed to solve problems.
Past events feel real, but they exist only as memory.
Future anxieties feel real, but they are only projections.
A striking example of this is my mother’s Alzheimer’s.
She was allergic to chocolate, cheese, and tomatoes for decades, but without the memory of the allergy, she no longer experiences any reaction.
Where attention goes, energy flows.
How Sound Helps Us Enter Presence
A helpful way to understand meditation is through driving:
Thoughts are like the trees on the side of the road.
Sound is the road ahead.
If you stare at the trees, you’ll drift toward them.
If you stay focused on the road, your direction stays steady.
During a Sound Bath, let:
The sound be your anchor
Thoughts pass without engagement
Feelings rise and dissolve through breath
The present moment become your home base
🌊 How to Use This 1-Hour Sound Bath
Find a quiet space, dim the lights, and listen with headphones for full 3D immersion.
Allow the sound to wash through your body like gentle waves — releasing what no longer serves and restoring balance with each breath.
Perfect for:
🧘♂️ Meditation or yoga
😌 Stress relief & grounding
🌿 Emotional release & self-care
💤 Deep sleep preparation
Final Thoughts
Presence isn’t an abstract concept — it’s a skill.
It can be learned, strengthened, and lived.
Sound is one of the most powerful ways to enter it.
