HOW I TEACH
I like to get to know the student, understand your goals & the music you are interested in, and also if you have any previous playing experience & your style of learning. With this, I can tailor lessons to meet your specific needs. I will help you develop a solid technique & a great understanding of how music works. Everything we do will have a purpose in the fulfillment of your goals, but most importantly, have fun.
I teach a broad range of styles including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, Blues, Classical & Electronic Music.
Learning needs to be fun!
This is what I bring to my lessons to help guide students through learning an instrument. I regularly incorporate games & puzzles into a lesson, this helps make the whole experience as entertaining as it is rewarding. We will do confidence-building challenges while making sure not to overburden you with too much information, all at once. I will pay close attention to your posture so you feel comfortable at all times, there is nothing worse than being challenged & feeling uncomfortable as well!
As a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter & producer, I have a unique approach to teaching. You will get a chance to explore not only your own instrument but also the many instruments I have at my studio. This will give you a well-rounded approach to music & increases your skill-set. For each lesson, I will accompany you on another complementary instrument such as the drums, guitar, or bass. Not only will this help to keep you in time, but will give you a real-world experience of playing with other instruments & again, is lots of fun!
I also offer the exploration of modern technology such as drum machines, synthesizers, computer recording software, midi, sequencing & mixing. I will give you the opportunity to write & record compositions during the lessons, giving you an understanding of basic recording techniques and a fully mixed professional-sounding song. I also give industry advice on how you can share your compositions with the rest of the world via the internet and maintain copyright.
