QUESTIONS
Q. HOW MUCH TEACHING EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?
A. I've been teaching privately for over 28 years now. I've taught all types of instruments, styles of music & varied ages.
Q. WHERE ARE LESSONS TAUGHT?
A. I have a private studio in Balwyn North (Melbourne, Eastern Suburbs), this is where I do all my teaching & music work.
Q. WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH?
A. I teach from age 6 to 106! My oldest student so far, has been 80 years old, so it's never too late to start learning.
Q. DO I HAVE TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MUSIC OR MY CHOSEN INSTRUMENT BEFORE MY FIRST LESSON?
A. Absolutely not! I teach from total beginners (patience is my middle name), as well as intermediate & advanced students.
Q. I'M STUDYING MUSIC AT SCHOOL, CAN YOU HELP ME PREPARE FOR EXAMS?
A. Totally! I'm highly experienced in preparing VCE Students for end-of-year recitals (Units 1-2 & 3-4).
I can also prepare you for exams with any of the following organisations:
AMEB, ANZCA or any others.
Q. I WAS HOPING FOR LESSONS AT MY HOME. DO YOU TRAVEL?
A. No. BUT I do organise SKYPE Lessons. These are handy if you have a computer with a camera attached, so we can see each other. You have a set lesson time & I teach you like you were in my studio, but you are in the comfort of your home instead! Check out Skype.com for more information.
Q. CAN I START MY LESSONS ANYTIME OF THE YEAR?
A. Yes you can. If there is a spot available that works for you, we can start lessons when you are ready. At times I'm fully booked, so you will go on my waiting list. I'll give you a call when a free time pops up.
As I go by Victorian government school terms, if you start lessons after a term has started, I'll just bill you for the remaining lessons of that term.
Q. DO YOU TEACH OVER THE HOLIDAYS?
A. I am available to teach during holiday breaks, although the times are more relaxed & you will have to be flexible too. I do have a family & we like to have fun outside of my music studio!
Q. CAN YOU HELP ME RECORD MY OWN MUSIC DURING MY LESSONS?
A. Absolutely! I enjoy taking songs my students have written & helping them compose & record them, ready to show off to family & friends, or even enter music competitions (like Triple J's Unearthed).
TERMS & CONDITIONS
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Lessons are by request. If you can't make your lesson on a public holiday, you need to give me 48 hours notice, so I don't charge you for the lesson.
GROUP LESSONS
There are no refunds or make up lessons for missing a Group or Band Lesson. You will pay the same amount whether 3 or 10 people show up for the lesson. There are no exceptions to this policy.
LATE ARRIVALS
Students arriving late will not have their lesson time extended. This backs up the entire schedule & presents problems for everyone concerned. (Think of doctor's waiting rooms!)
CANCELLATIONS
It is the students responsibility to give 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or change a lesson time.
No refunds, make up lessons or credit is given when you have failed to give 48 hours notice.
MAKE UP LESSONS
Make up lessons are offered twice a term. Students must schedule a make up lesson within two weeks at my convenience. Make up lessons must be taken in the same term that the lesson was cancelled.
CARE OF STUDENTS
The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Young students are not to be left at the school for an excessive time before or after lessons.
CHANGE OF STUDENT DETAILS
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to inform the school of any email address or telephone number change.
